Biographies
:

Al Kugel:

Al Kugel is an investment counselor based in Chicago and holds a BS degree from Washington University and an MBA from Harvard. He has been involved in philately since childhood and is currently president of the Chicago Philatelic Society. He is also a director of the Collectors Club of Chicago and a council member of the American Philatelic Congress. His memberships include the Collectors Club of New York as well as many specialty philatelic organizations. Al is also a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society London and a nationally-qualified philatelic judge. He has exhibited extensively, both nationally and internationally, and has written many articles for philatelic journals on various subjects, mostly related to 20th Century military mail. He received the Luff Award for Distinguished Philatelic Research from the APS in 2005.

Ed Dubin:

Ed is a retired engineer from Ford Motor Company. He is a long time collector, a member of the American Philatelic society for over thirty years and a number of specialty societies. His military postal history collecting interests focus on the 20th century period and especially the WWI era. Ed was the local committee chairman when the APS held its Stampshow in Detroit in 1988. He is active in several local clubs and is a past president of the West Suburban Stamp Club in Plymouth, Michigan. Ed is also a past chairman of the Plymouth Show, an APS World Series of Philately annual event.

Myron Fox:

Myron Fox was auction manager from1978 to 2009 and Immediate MPHS President. Wide ranging interest in world wide military and censored mail since 1960. In recent years he has concentrated more on WWI and WWII German and U.S. and Germany Occupation after both wars. He is a member of numerous military oriented postal history societies at home and abroad including the GPS, where he is the Director of the Third Reich Study Group; the FPHS, CCSG, and Germany and Colonies Philatelic Societies in England and ARGE Zensurpost and Deutsche Feldpost 1939-45 in Germany. In 1996 he received the MPHS Meritorious award as well as the Gold pin of the Bund Deutschen Philatelisten recognizing his 25 year membership. He has also been a member of the APS over 25 years. He is a retired Director of Engineering for the former GTE Government systems where his specialty was Army tactical communications.

James Boyden:

Jim is twice retired, once from the United States Army where he was a counterintelligence agent and then from the State of California where he was a criminal investigator. He is a past president of the Military Postal History Society and has been a MPHS director for several years. He is a member of several other philatelic groups to include being a life member of the APS. His specialty is the postal history of the AEF in World War I and has written two books on the subject as well as having contributed to the second edition of the Postal History of the AEF. He has also written articles on the subject for the MPHS Bulletin. He has received several awards for his writings from the APS as well as the Harry Cope Memorial Award for Literature from the Forces Postal History Society of Great Britain. He is currently a member of the Olympic Philatelic Society of Washington.

Thierry Delespesse:

Thierry (Terry) is a retired chef from Belgium. He has been collecting all his life without interruption. He is a member of the American Philatelic Society, the Universal Ship Cancellation Society and a number of other societies to which he has often contributed pertinent articles. Being married to an Air Force officer (recently retired), they were stationed overseas for 13 years which gave him the opportunity to visit many APOs, learning all about APO operations first hand and even volunteering at the APO in Izmir, Turkey for three years. While stationed in Belgium, he organized the issuance and the First Day ceremony for the NATO 50th Anniversary stamp. Thierry specialized in French military postal history, NATO postal history, Post-WWII APOs, UN Peacekeeping postal history and Napoleonic mail. He is the editor of the APO Catalog "1965 to the Present" as well as the auction manager.
